Thank You Letter Points to Consider

* Be brief and to the point.
* When thanking a potential employer, restate your interest in the position and/or the company.
* Always plan your follow-up. Make it a point to tell the person when and how they can expect to hear from you in the future.

* If there are multiple people involved, such as with a panel interview, be sure to thank each person. Send one letter to each person or send a single letter to a key person for distribution. When sending more than one thank you letter, it is very effective to vary each one.

* Always send written cover letters to a person by name.

* The thank you is an opportunity to restate your qualifications. Include any pertinent information you failed to mention earlier. Be sure to reemphasize your skills and abilities.

Logo Design Information

The Governor signed legislation officially changing the county’s name to Martin Luther King Junior County earlier this year. Shortly after, the Metropolitan King County Council voted to change the logo design from a gold crown to an image of Dr. King. In order to minimize costs of the change, the County will transition to the new business logo design when reordering supplies or replacing equipment or signage.

Follow a Cover Letter Format for Great Results

A great cover letter is your ticket to getting your foot in the door of a hiring manager’s office. Be sure to include a greeting, a sentence or two about your past experience and reference to your enclosed resume and give an example of something you did on the job that shows your strength. Hiring managers receive hundreds of cover letters each week. They are scanned and kept or scanned and trashed. If you want your cover letter to land in the ‘keeper’ pile for further consideration, write the kind that makes a lasting impression. And be sure to ask for the interview.
